Three murders in a day, Madang police seek help

A WOMAN and two men were found murdered in Madang on Saturday, commander Acting Supt Mazuc Rubiang says.
“The first murder was reported at Sumkar’s Karkum Village where a man was slashed to death by cult members.
“Police were informed of the murder and rushed to the scene and sent the man’s wife, who was also wounded, to Mugil Hospital.
“The man was identified as Steven Wang of Karkum Village who was slashed with a bush knife in his home with the family,” he added.
Acting Supt Rubiang said the second murder was reported in the Brick Store in the new town area in Madang town where a woman was killed.
“Police and hospital staff retrieved the body and sent it to the mortuary,” he added.
In the third murder, acting Supt Rubiang said a security guard was killed in the RD Farm in Maiwara off North Coast Road.
“The guard was stabbed with a kitchen knife during an argument while drinking with his friends,” he said.
“The murder suspect had surrendered to the police and is now held in the Jomba police lock-up.
“I cannot deny crime is on the rise in Madang.
“We are trying our best to make sure there is law and order and peace.
“Unfortunately, people are not helping police in many of the cases,” he lamented.
