NETBALL Papua New Guinea has appointed three new members to its board to take sport to the next level.
Netball PNG chairperson Julianne Leka-Maliaki, pictured, said the PNG netball fraternity could expect further enhancements in netball standards with the announcement of three new directors appointed to the board.
The three new directors include former PNG netball chief Emily Taule, Ms Alu Ravusiro and the only male board member, Jerry Bagita.
Taule is the current executive director of Transparency International while Ravusiro, is national coordinator for the Oceania Sports Education Programme with the PNG Olympic Committee while Bagita is employed by the Department of National Planning and Monitoring.
Leka-Maliaki said the three new directors would now bring the number of board members to seven which is in line with Netball PNG’s governance policy realignment and its vision towards corporatisation of the sport in the future. The other four directors were elected at the annual general meeting in September including Leka-Maliaki, Mona-lisa Leka, Diana Kila and Helen Havora.
Leka-Maliaki said the three directors would bring a good range of skills and knowledge which would add value to the board as they work towards implementing the sport’s three-year strategy.
The first board meeting will be held this month to discuss the sport’s strategic plan and other opportunities over the next 24 months.
