Three persons of interest on Covid-19 found

A joint team from the police, Immigration and Customs has tracked down three persons of interest (POIs) in Port Moresby and Central after they arrived from Singapore two months ago and went without a medical clearance, a team member confirmed.
The expatriates have carried on their normal lifestyle since arriving on Feb 20.
The team member involved in tracking the three said yesterday that the National Covid-19 Operation Centre at Morauta Haus in Waigani informed them that one of the persons of interest was a businessman and arrived from Singapore, but was not cleared for Covid-19.
“The information provided by the National Covid-19 centre was sketchy as they had provided a different name of that businessman – not the name on his passport,” they said.
“We were unable to confirm his name on the Immigration’s database.
“But from our own information, we were able to clarify that he was a businessman and operated a saw mill in Central.”
The officer said they went to the businessman’s sawmill last Wednesday.
“On inspection of the saw mill we came across two other expatriate POIs who were employed by that businessman at the saw mill,” they said. “They had all arrived together on the same Air Niugini flight in Port Moresby. But the businessman was not there and we were told that he was at his house.”
The team went to his house and advised him to isolate himself.
“We have already provided a report of our operations to the National Covid-19 operations centre.
“Till now we have not received any reply whether medical doctors have been dispatched to check on the three expatiates.”

  • The action of this expatriate is criminal.
I hope he has not been doing the same with his business dealings.

  • WHY ARE WE LETTING THESE PEOPLE IN.. THOUGH WE WERE HAVING A STATE OF EMERGENCY???
PRIME MINISTER WHAT IS GOING ON???

  • Deal with officer who allowed that businessman to skip through.
    Businessman nonap karim virus?????

  • He should subject himself to the laws of this land. These are the kind of people that don’t seem to respect the laws of our country.

  • The behavior of this expatriate is very cunning this is the type of people who have hidden motives to come into our beautiful country with imported deceases and unhealthy/poisonous/low quality stuff pertaining to their activities they try to slowly get rid of the indigenous people of this land.

This covid 19 is the wake up call for this country PNG which you the government to start advance our securities, health facilities, educations and importantly consider our own downstream processing so we do not import processed food and staff from the developed countries with exhausted resources and lack of organic food stuff a big time loss for them.

  • Have testing being done on this expatriates and business man? We need to confirm to know that they are not spreading the virus.

  • Too late PM…You should have cancelled all incoming flights into the country some time back. And what’s so important about Singapore that incoming flights from there were allowed into the country when we know so well, that it had big risks doing so???Now see where we have put ourselves in. Fingers are pointing back at you Mr PM.

  • How can he have two different names?
If he is a foreigner doing business in our country then he should be locked up forthwith using fake names.
Covid-19 is exposing culprits who makes false declarations..

  • Any person of interest (POI) should be quarantined straight away for 14 days before test can be done to verify their status instead of roaming out in the communities and silently spreading the virus.

  • If they have the virus and intended to come without being tested, then they are murderers who don’t even care of spreading the virus putting people’s lives at stake.

  • Very annoying by allowing International flights and monitoring Domestic flights, PNG Govt doing Opposite.. Blindly heading disaster… Where are we heading, PNG?
