Three-year-old among 10 recovering from operation

THREE-year-old Shayna Maita and her four friends among the 10 children who underwent successful operation open heart last week, are recovering at the Port Moresby General Hospital.
Maita’s mother Herose Joe, from Ranimap in Telefomin, Vanimo, West Sepik, said her daughter’s heart problem was detected by a doctor when she was six months old in 2015.
Joe said in April 2016, she was referred from Tabubil, Western to the Port Moresby General Hospital for further heart examination and operation.
Her daughter was selected for surgery and underwent the operation on Aug 1.
Joe was grateful to the Operation Open Health and Operation Open Heart PNG for giving hope to her daughter.
Joe said open heart surgeries were expensive and she was grateful for the operation and would not forget the kindness and compassion of the doctors and organisation.
She also thanked her husband Maita Sinsieng, her mother and family members for supporting Shayna.
