LAE Tigers pair Roy Ellison and Emil Benjamin say sticking to their game plan will be crucial when they host former employers Rabaul Gurias in the Morobe capital on Sunday.
The pair had left the Agmark-backed Gurias earlier this year to join the Lae Biscuit Company-sponsored reigning premiers for this season.
Former SP Hunters winger Ellison told The National that they were anticipating a tough Lae Rugby League Ground clash with the visitors, who would be looking to complete the double against their fellow top-four rivals.
“We are looking forward for a big game against our former team,” he said.
“They are sitting atop the competition ladder, and every team are looking to beat them.
“We just have to stick to our game plan and contribute effectively to the team.
“For us, it’s a different feeling playing against our former club, but we’ll be up for the clash.”
Meanwhile, Ellison and second-rower Benjamin thanked the Tigers for giving them an opportunity to be part of the side this season.
“We can’t thank the Tigers enough for their support,” Ellison said.
“They’ve been very good to us since the start of the season.
“The team culture has taught us a lot.
“They look after their players well.
“It’s no surprise that they always reach the finals.”
Ellison said he was confident that his fourth-placed side would end the frontrunners’ five match-winning run.
