Tighten policing

Letters

EVERY day there are reports of lawlessness in the National Capital District (NCD).
The crimes range from bag snatching, car theft, drinking in public places, ethnic clashes, overcrowding in residences, loud music into the wee hours of the morning, armed holdups and the list goes on and on and on.
Some, we hear and read about in our local dailies and via social media platforms.
Many we do not because the citizens have accepted it as a norm.
Those who accept this, especially the parents and adults, have to critically analyse their lives, as well as that of their children and start doing something about it.
This city is sitting on a time bomb.
The Police Minister Bryan Kramer and his new acting Police Commissioner David Manning and acting ACP Anthony Wagambie Jnr, in such a short period of time, are doing a great job.
The public can see that there is something finally being done unlike before when the force was heavily politicised.
Keep up the great work.
I congratulate Wagambie for his appointment which is well deserved.
His track record speaks for itself in producing great results in his previous post.
I would also commend him for having discussions with NCD Governor Powes Parkop to forge a partnership to address this sickening law and order dilemma in the capital.
The issue here now is whether Parkop and his cash cow NCDC are up to it. In terms of law and order they do not exist.
All they want to do is give handouts to people using taxpayers’ money for other purposes.
Parkop should stop these handouts which is seen as buying votes for the next election.
Too many propaganda programmes eating away the NCDC budget, getting his picture placed on billboards and advertising mediums, while the city is going further and further into the sewers.
The majority of the peace loving residents of NCD deserve a better city than the one we have right now. Parkop and NCDC are not delivering.
If they have ran out of ideas hold a public forum and gauge the views of the people.
At the moment Parkop and NCDC does not exist.
