Time for Sepiks to go home

Letters, Normal

I AM saddened by the ferocity and magnitude of enmity shown by members of the various communities throughout the country, in particular, the people of Morobe against Sepiks.
The recent beheading of a Sepik woman in Lae and the ferocious raiding by people of Wau-Bulolo is a sign that Morobeans and others no longer welcome our presence within their communities.
Can our political and bureaucratic leaders come out with development ideas and initiatives to lure our people back to the province?
Since the early 1950s, the people of East Sepik have migrated to many parts of the country, including Morobe and the New Guinea Islands.
We have contributed immensely to build the local economies  of wherever we stay.
Perhaps the time has come for all sons and daughters of Sepik to swallow our pride and return home.
Let’s go home and develop our province, which we have neglected all this while.
Remember, we are half Highlands (Enga, WHP and Chimbu) and half nambis (Madang and Manus) and there are no better people to withstand the challenges of our contemporary world than those of us who have got the best of both worlds.
