Tiny nation with too many ministers

Letters

I ASK myself: in what way will our tiny island nation of PNG benefit from a Government with too many cabinet ministers?
l also ask myself: is it worthwhile to fund a ministry office and paying a minister lucrative salary or in using these funds to build a road, school or hospital?
Our instincts will provide us the answer.
God has given us the wisdom to choose between right and wrong. And, this is the truth and a common practice in PNG. Although our politicians know that their actions are wrong, they will still go ahead and make that call because they have to please someone.
The recent creation of another ministry to please an Opposition defector came at a time when troubling news of snake bites killing children and birth complications in our remotest areas were making headlines in our daily newspapers, our radio and television stations, and on social media.
Where is the common sense? It does not make any sense at all.
The Government’s action is like saying: My bladder is full but why should I go and relieve myself? That is not common sense!
To a common person: I am hungry so I will go and find something to eat. Now, that is common sense!
When the fact is: PNG is a tiny island nation; it simply means we cannot continue to have new cabinet ministries which is well and truly above the expected Government ceiling.
