POLICE in Milne Bay have arrested another member of Tommy Baker’s gang.
Provincial Police commander Chief Inspector Michael Tilae said he was arrested outside Alotau on Wednesday after a tip-off.
“He is now at the Alotau police station cell but has not been charged. He will be charged with various offences relating to the criminal activities done by the gang over the years.”
Police have so far arrested six suspected gang members who are detained at the Alotau police station.
This is apart from the 11 transferred to Port Moresby from Alotau.
The 11 appeared before the Waigani District Court charged with armed robbery, piracy and murder.
Meanwhile Alotau police were still looking for the nurse and a man who had reportedly assisted Baker with medicine, food and logistical support while in hiding.
The nurse has since been sacked from the Alotau General Hospital for allegedly smuggling medicine to take to Baker at his hideout.
The man had allegedly provided petrol, a dinghy and food to Baker and his gang to conduct criminal activities in the province.
Tilae said Baker was injured after a shoot-out last month.
“So we are appealing to him to surrender and get proper treatment at the hospital. And we are now closing in on his hideout which is near Alotau town.”
