The Teachers Savings and Loans Society has opened a branch in Western.

The branch was opened last week in Kiunga by board chairman Gabriel Tai, becoming the 16th branch of the society in the country.

Tai said the branch had come about due to the management’s decision to bring its services closer to members in the province.

He said the board and executive management had heeded the request from members in the province to bring services to their door-steps. Tai said could now see fast turnaround times on their loans and savings withdrawals.

Provincial district education coordinator Charlie Buia said the branch would allow more than 900 teachers in the province to access services and products provided by TISA.

Buia said each week, he signed between 20 to 30 confirmation letters for teachers who tried to obtain loans.
