Title allows city park to develop, protect

THE Port Moresby Nature Park now has the land title to make further developments to protect the country’s colourful and rare flora and fauna, National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop says.
“The land title was previously under the University of PNG so it was difficult to develop. But now you (park’s management) are free to make developments within the park for the people to come and appreciate their natural environment,” he said.
Parkop said on Saturday when celebrating the World Environment Day at Nature Park.
“I’m also calling on the residents to do little thing right like stop littering and stop spitting betel nuts in public places.
“If we do such little things right, then we are contributing to a safe environment.
“We all don’t have to go out there to save the whales or stop logging. But if we decided to consider a free environment for them, then we can do it,” Parkop said when marking the Day.
