MORESBY South MP Justin Tkatchenko says sponsoring and supporting women in small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) is important as they provide for their families.
Tkatchenko delivered 50 cakes to women’s associations in his electorate on Saturday to commemorate Mother’s Day.
“Women play an important role in the family and they deserve to be treated equally,” he said.
Tkatchenko said he had been investing more on women in his electorate and celebrating Mother’s Day with cake was one of the best things to do.
“A big thank you to you women of Kaugere for your undivided support in good and bad times,” he said.
Tkatchenko said it had been hard for his family over the last 10 days with the unfortunate situation involving his daughter.
“I have to make this crystal clear that the comments that I made was for the political-motivated cyber trolls that spoilt my daughter and wife’s reputation and not all Papua New Guineans,” he said.
“I have lived in this beautiful country for 30 years.
“All my children and wife come from PNG and how can I say such a thing to the people who I love.
“In the end, my comment was targeting those cyber bullies who attack girls and women online.
“We are one team – we will all work together and it is all about making things happen for Moresby South despite the bad situation.
“I am a proud Papua New Guinean and Moresby South MP, and I will support your SME women’s associations and the work will do the talking.”
