FLIGHTS to and from Tokua airport, Rabaul, on Sunday have been cancelled due to runway maintenance set to be carried out by the National Airports Corporation (NAC), according to Air Nugini.
According to a statement from the airline company, there would be no more flights for the day following the departure of PX 241 and PX 275 out of Tokua early on Sunday morning; the airport would be closed from 7.30am for the rest of the day in order for NAC workers to carry out the runway pavement repairs. PX202/203 on Sunday will operate to Hoskins only, while PX274 and PX244 have been rescheduled to fly the next day.
Air Niugini plans to resume normal operations to Tokua on Monday.
It has noted that the Kieta airport had been closed from Aug 31 to Sept 4 due to NAC maintenance work on the runway, and was scheduled to reopen tomorrow today.
Air Niugini thanked the travelling public for their understanding on this matter.
