Tolly Ice club get funding from MP

TOLLY Ice rugby league club of Hanuabada, which took part in the Poreporena competition, ended their 2012 season in style with a K20,000 blessing, courtesy of Health Minister Michael Malabag.
The Moresby North West MP, whose electorate covers the village, made the commitment during the club’s awards presentation ceremony.
The club were one of eight that participated during the 2012 season and performed well in their A grade, reaching the semi-finals.
Tolly Ice head coach Heni Owen attributed their success to goodmanagement, discipline and commitment.
He said the club had been one of the strong contenders since the Poreporena rugby league association was established and had won back-to-back premierships from 2000 to 2003.
The player-of-the-year award went to Paul Abe Telana (A grade) while Patrick Oala won the U20 award.
Brian Toua won rookie-of-the-year.
Other award winners were: Best and fairest – Kevau Boge (A grade) and Patrick Oala (U20); Most try scorer – Abbas Nou (A grade) and Eno Thomas (U20); Best back – David Raepa (A grade) and Eno Thomas (U20); Best forward – Kevau Boge (A grade) and Patrick Oala (U20); Clubsman-of-the-year – Nou Arua and Michael Reva (A grade) and Robie Paul (U20).
