THE PNG Tourism Industry Association is taking its tourism expo out to the provinces to give participants a real insight into the industry, says an official.
Association executive manager Christine Peipul told The National yesterday that in the past all Lukim PNG Tourism Expos were held in Port Moresby only.
“This year we have decided to do something different,” she said. “We have decided to bring the expo to the provinces – and in this case East New Britain. Basically, it’s about getting all tourism members into one location and getting them to showcase their products to the public.
“We have done this to get more regional participation. The expo is held annually. It is an opportune time for our industry members to come together and showcase their products and services and also meet international travel agents to market PNG.
“Taking the event into the provinces is a much better idea because people gain experience about what’s on the ground. We have 10 travel agents here who have been selling PNG and East New Britain overseas but they’ve never been here before.
