FOUR winners of the Toyota Tsusho South Pacific Holdings’ group skills contest will travel to Japan in October after winning in Port Moresby on Tuesday.
“Long live Fiji,” said Toyota Tsusho South Pacific Holdings managing director Yoshiaki Kato after Fiji graced the stage with three wins.
Fiji won the Sales Consultant, Parts Adviser and Toyota Tech categories, with Tonga taking the Service Adviser Cup.
“The competition is not about who wins or lose, it’s about skills and how it’s been applied,” said Toyota Brisbane general manager operations Denzil Robertson. “This is actually the pinnacle of your route to training to actually get you to the point as number one in your country.”
“The customer is the winner because you are able to do your job properly, from the technical point of view to the face-to-face situation.”
The competition tested the participants’ competence and knowledge of customer service and the different models of vehicles and parts.
The winners will travel to Japan to be inducted with other winners from around the world into Toyota’s Customer Service Champions Hall of Fame.
Tonga’s Molisi Kilisimasi is taking home the Service Adviser Cup.
Papua New Guinea is the largest dealer in the South Pacific and has been encouraged to play better in the next contest.
Kato said Toyota is No.1 in in Asia, PNG and the South Pacific and has a 50 per cent share in many countries.
“This is because of the availability of spare parts in small islands and the availability of services in most of the big cities,” said Kato.
