GAWENGLABU villager Miriam Garry says a week-long training for farmers is “an eye-opener” to fulfil her ambition to be a soldier.
“Now I know how I can use the knowledge in agriculture knowledge to sustain the livelihood of my family and complete my education to fulfill my ambition,” she added.
Miriam was among the 100 participants of a week-long agriculture and livestock training in Morobe in Mape’s Suquang village in Finschhafen on Friday.
The training was facilitated by the Agriculture and Livestock Department in partnership with Finschhafen district development authority.
Miriam completed her Grade 10 in 2020 at Dregerhafen Secondary School.
“But this training has inspired me that falling out at the Grade 10 is not the end of education. The training has motivated me to be determined to continue with my education.
“We usually cultivate cash crops for our own consumption. But this training has taught me that I can earn an income to help meet my family’s daily basic needs and necessities. What I have learned, I must put it into practice to our garden produce and livestock.”
“To fulfil my ambition to be a soldier, I had to put my hands on the ground and work hard.”
