MORE than 20 people in Port Moresby have taken part in a business training programme to develop and prepare local exporters for the international market.

The five-day workshop saw participants from Air Niugini and PNG Customs attend the training organised by the Investment Promotion Authority, Pacific Islands Private Sector Organisation and sponsored by the National Institute of Standards and Industrial Technology.

Authority managing director Ivan Pomaleu said the training was another way to develop local exporters.

“I am glad to see that there are about 20 participants in this seminar, as it demonstrates the enthusiasm of our export industry in developing the industry to international standards,” he said.

“We hope that the skills and knowledge acquired in this seminar would go a long way in further developing businesses to a standard which they can enjoy at the end of the day.”

Ponaleu said the workshop was an opportunity for export agencies to create export networking.
