THE Northern Confederate Schoolboys competition has released the names of the training squads after the staging of the selection trials over the weekend at Lae Rugby League.
The selection trials was made possible by the sponsorship of Kumul Petroleum Holdings Ltd (KPHL) in collaboration with the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League.
Confederate director Robin Iveke told The National that only schools in Lae took part in the trials but the confederate usually had teams from Kainantu and Ramu taking part in the schoolboys rugby league competition since the programme came into place. “We only have Lae because of the Coronavirus and believe that next year after this game we will have Lae, Kainantu and Ramu and hopefully Madang coming in,” he said.
“We do have school competitions being played in Wewak but because of transportation cost they cannot make it over.
“I sympathise with them but I like this to be bigger and better next year for the confederate.”
