A Week-long life skills training was held in Sausso local level government (LLG) in East Sepik last week aimed at helping participants to improve their living standard.
The training was organised by the East Sepik Sausso council of women and saw 66 people take part.
It was a historic milestone for the group which was funded through the provincial government’s division of community development by Governor Allan Bird to develop, empower and support women improve skills training, basic financial literacy for economic and business activities, spiritual enrichment and life skills to improve living standards.
Council of women representatives Matilda Mifa and Angela Jambui organised the training which ran from Jan 18-22 at Kubalia station.
More than 150 women witnessed the official closing of the programme.
The participants included 32 from Rofundogum village, 18 from Munji, 18 from Suandogum, three from Bararat and two each from Segoro, Tuonumbu, Japaraka No.2 and Kusaun and Porombe villages of Sausso LLG.
Mifa said more women folk and youths in the 21 wards of Sausso LLG would attend such training in the future when the second training be conducted with certificates to be issued as a token of appreciation.
She said this was a start and a first for the women of Sausso who had been neglected by their local councils.
