NEW measures to control and monitor motor vehicles will be imposed in Lae.

The measures would be jointly implemented by the Morobe provincial land transport control board and the police to ensure vehicles were safe for users.

Lae Metropolitan Supt Nema Mondiai said on Tuesday that all vehicles would have to go through licensed motor inspection companies, traffic registry and the police.

The checks would be done to vehicle’s engine and body, insurance, registration and the driver’s licence at the police station.
