Transport vital for development

TRANSPORT is a conduit for economic development and will do its part in driving national development, says Minister for Transport and Infrastructure William Samb.
Samb delivered the statement in Parliament on Tuesday on the second Transport Sector’s Medium-Term Transport Plan (MTTP2 2019-2020).
“The transport sector’s contribution is to ensure that our transport system remains effective and resilient to underwrite economic growth and improve the quality of life,” he said.
“This will include discussing the development of the Medium-Term Transport Plan 2 which charts our course for the next four years in line with the medium-term transport plan three and other national development strategies and plans.”
Samb said transport was a tool for improving equity in our diverse population.
“Transport is part of the face we present to our visitors and ourselves,” he said.
“It is both a window and a mirror of our nation.
“The (plan) is to provide a safe, secure, reliable and sustainable transport system.”

  • Transport minister needs to educate all Papua New Guineans with all the rules, safety measures like installation of certain signs and replace or repaint (signs or lines) every month and so forth. Put inplace tougher penalties for who don’t follow the rules and regulations. Increase fine on people who disobedient and ignorant.
