A tribal leader has commended the efforts of Deputy Chief Justice Ambeng Kandakasi in quelling a fierce tribal fight in the Laiagam district of Enga recently.
Kandakasi, who comes from Laiagam, with the help of several people managed to stop the fighting and allow warlords to forgive each other.
Village elders, who witnessed the peace ceremony, took time to thank Justice Kandakasi and recognised the efforts of their local MP Tomait Kapili in peacemaking. The elders thanked Enga police commander Chief Superintendent Joseph Tondop and Defence Force contingent commanders Major Price Rumints and Major Adolf Kaen who supported in the peace talks.
β€œIt may be the first of its kind in any Highlands society and we commend Justice Kandakasi for leading the way,” they said.
It was indeed a real meaning of Christmas when two tribal enemies were allowed to make peace on Christmas Eve,” they said.
