Trukai boss gets honorary doctorate from Unitech

TRUKAI Industries Ltd chief executive Greg Worthington-Eyre has been bestowed with a honorary Doctor of Technology degree by the University of Technology at its recent graduation.
Worthington-Eyre has supported the university through council membership of over a three-year tenure, adding a corporate and a diligent focus on strengthening its journey of advancing tertiary education for Papua New Guineans.
As a member of Unitech’s development consultancy subsidiary board, he provided support in ensuring financial and governance aspects of business were driven forward.
Worhington-Eyre arrived in the country five years ago and joined Trukai Industries as its CEO.
Apart from corporate achievements in revenue and profitability, there were a number of milestones and activities he initiated and developed.
These were in supporting food security in PNG, and the health and wellbeing of numerous smallholder farmers through rice stock feeding sustainability.
His efforts lifted the university’s profile.
Worthington-Eyre thanked the university for honouring him.
“When I was informed during the council meeting in December, I must admit that I was humbled by the news,” he said.
