PAPUA New Guineans yesterday participated in the nationwide Trukai Fun Run as a fund-raiser for Team PNG’s participation in September’s Mini Pacific Games in Wallis & Futuna.

The estimated number of participants was between 32,000 and 34,000 in Port Moresby and thousands more in Lae, Vanimo, Ramu, Mt. Hagen, Goroka, Tabubil, and Kavieng.

Participants flooded the Sir John Guise Stadium as early as 4.30am to take part in the annual event, which drew a record number of participants compared to previous years.

Guest appearances by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and Sports & 2015 Pacific Games Minister Justin Tkatchenko psyched up the crowd as they walked along the Trukai Fun Run route.
