Trukai promo makes widow a happy winner

A WIDOW, 63, from Porebada in Central, has won K50,000 in Trukai’s Roots promotion cash giveaway.
Clare Mahuta won the promotion’s Southern region draw.
She said she was surprised and happy at the same time to win the cash prize. She thanked Trukai.
She said she was unemployed and was preparing for her son’s bride price.
Trukai marketing manager Mabellyn Frenandes said the promotion was a way of rewarding customers.
She said the promotion ran from Dec 1 to Jan 12.
Customers had to buy Roots medium grain rice and place their names and contact details in the entry bins provided at department stores. The promotion was called “Roots Win A Share of K500,000”. Cash prizes were given out each week.
The cash prize increased for every draw with K50,000 being the largest and final cash prize given away.
Mahuta was one of four lucky winners from each region who won K50,000 each. The other winners were:

  • Benuel Yupi, from Maprik, for the Momase region;
  • August Riwan, from Kokopo, for the Islands region; and,
  • Macken Korua, from

Mt Hagen, for the Highlands.
Fernandez said 116 people won nationwide during the life of the competition.
