Trukai shifts packaging material

Business

TRUKAI Industries Ltd has changed its packaging material from polyethylene (PE) to polyethylene terephthalate (PET), a company statement said.
All the designs on the packaging remain the same.
According to Trukai, the PET was the most preferred or commonly used plastic material for consumer products, beverages and food items as it is hygienic, strong and retains freshness.
Chief executive officer Alan Preston said Trukai had been a large contributor to food security in PNG for 50 years and still maintained its commitment to supply PNG with quality rice.
“The change in our material does not have any impact on the quality of our products,” he said.
“Trukai stands by its value of providing quality food for our consumers and we ensure we only produce the best rice, using world food standards and milling facilities at our plant in Lae.
“We take the quality and safety of our products very seriously and we want to ensure that the change in packaging material showcases our products better.”
