Truth cannot be hidden

Letters

WHY is the higher hierarchy of the Health Department and Minister Sir Puka Temu openly saying all is well in health service delivery on the country when health workers on the ground are saying the opposite? Who are they trying to protect?
The death or somebody higher? There are reported cases of every day shortages of medicines and consumables experienced right throughout the country.
Some health facilities have been closed for some time.
For example, Orokolo Health Centre in Gulf has been closed for some time. Buka Hospital, Goroka Hospital and most hospitals are facing shortages.
New Ireland, which has 31 health centres and 65 aid posts, is inadequately stocked up.
Why doesn’t the truth from the higher hierarchy come when facts on the ground are neutral and honest? The raw truth on the ground, in a letter in The National yesterday written by Papua New Guinea’s esteemed and experienced medical doctor Prof Glen Mola from University of PNG’s Medical School and Port Moresby General Hospital, is reality.
