PAPUA New Guinea Sports Foundation chief executive Peter Tsiamalili Jr says Southern Highlands has the capacity and potential to deliver a successful PNG Games next year.
He said this during the recent presentation of K500,000 from the Southern Highlands government to host organising committee chairman Sape Molumi in Port Moresby.
“I have been to the province and other districts to conduct a feasibility study and surveys and I can say that they will host the games successfully,” Tsiamalili said.
“The province is eligible to host the games because it has the right climate, clean water and accommodation.
“Those are the key criteria for hosting the games.
“One requirement for a province to host such an event is the sanitation and Southern Highlands is eligible, having no problems with that.
“We don’t want athletes dehydrated and getting sick during the games,” he said.
“We will give our support to deliver a successful PNG Games.”
He also praised the provincial government for getting behind the games.
