TWO men who allegedly helped a Moreguina robbery suspect with medical supplies were explained their charges in the Central Committal Court yesterday.
Magistrate Laura Kuvi then adjourned Joe Kila and Bobby Wari’s case to Dec 17 for mention.
Kila, 34, of Gidobada village in Rigo, is a part-time community health worker at the Kwikila Health Centre and Wari is acting manager for the Rigo East local level government. They were alleged to have on Oct 15, travelled to the Upulima rubber plantation to help suspect Bradley Michael with medicines to treat wounds he sustained in a shootout with police.
Police said between 11am and 1pm, both men were seen in a brown Ford Ranger with another person during a police checkpoint at Upulima.
Police were told that they were accompanying the driver to Kapari village and would return on the same day.
When the same vehicle returned between 3pm and 4pm, police realised that the two men and the other person were not onboard.
They continued the checkpoint and searched other passing vehicles for the men.
Police later received information that the men were at a block at the Upulima rubber plantation to help Michael with medical supplies.
Police arrested both men at the Kwikila Station on Oct 16 and detained them at the 15-Mile Police Station.
The men allegedly admitted that they were dropped off by the Ford Ranger to help Michael with medicines to treat injuries he had sustained from a shootout with police after an armed robbery at Baolin trading in Moreguina. They were arrested and charged with being accessory after a robbery.
