PRIME Minister James Marape will be accompanied by two ministers to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Leaders’ Summit 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko told a news conference over the weekend that the International Trade and Investment Minister Richard Maru and himself would be attending the Apec summit along with Marape.
“This would be the first one again since the Coronavirus pandemic following the last Apec hosted by Papua New Guinea in 2018,” Tkatchenko said.
“The PM will be meeting with other Apec leaders, while I will be meeting with other foreign ministers while Maru will be attending meetings in relation to his ministry,” he added.
“One of the first meetings I will have is being called for by the US secretary of state Antony Blinken. Tkatchenko said he was looking forward to the meeting as there were so much to discuss about issues that were raised at a recent Pacific leaders summit in Washington.
The delegation leaves for Thailand today for the week-long summit.
