O-LEAGUE champions Hekari United FC are undergoing two months of serious training starting this week to prepare for the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup championships in the United Arab Emirates in December. The championships will be held on Dec 8-18.
Hekari United franchise owner John Kapi Natto said yesterday that the club had released three of their players – Cyril Muta, Charles Paranda and Michael Foster – to make way for new recruits, Ian and Beckham Yanum  and Tau Winnie.
Apart from the local recruits, Hekari United have retained the services of all their Solomon Islands and Fiji players.
Kapi Natto said the side had been boosted with two more Fijians, Malakai Tiwu and Alvin Singh, to the already overseas-infested team.
He also announced that Henry Fara’odo would remain with Hekari United to be part of the team to FIFA Club World championships despite a recall from Solomons’ Koloale FC, the club which he plays for during qualifying for the O-League this season.
“Fara’odo would remain with the club and contest the O-League challenge in 2010-11 season,” he said.
The franchise owner said training had been good with new players blending well with others already in the camp.
Kapi Natto said the team would be leaving for Cairns to play against Far North Bulls in the Queensland League next Wednesday followed by a match against Townsville next Saturday.
On their return, they will spend one week in Solomon Islands to play with top teams – Koloale FC and Kossa FC and later play the Solomon Islands team preparing for the start of O-League challenge.
