TWO mothers from Southern Highlands have appeared in court for calling another woman “useless” and “hopeless” and attacking her.
Mary Len and Susan Sosie, from Mendi and Kagua-Erave districts, appeared for trial in Mt Hagen district court on Wednesday.
They allegedly attacked Jaylina Paul, from Wabi village in Kagua, on Dec 23 at Kamga village near Mt Hagen.
Paul told the court that Len, Sosie, and their brother attacked her and called her “useless” and “hopeless”.
Len accused Paul of going around with her husband and attacked her.
Paul told the court that Sosie got an iron or wire and attacked her on her arm.
Len grabbed her by the collar and pulled her while their brother attacked her with a stone on the head.
Paul told the court that she was not aware of their allegation and asked them to explain, but they went ahead and attacked her.
She told the court that she reported to police and two accused were arrested on the same day.
Paul told the court that at the police station, Len assured police that they would compensate her on Jan 14, after which they were released.
She told the court that she was not compensated and had them rearrested.
Paul’s witness, John Inni, told the court that he was with her when Len and Sosie attacked her at Kamga.
Magistrate Donald Joseph adjourned the case to today when the two accused will give speak in their defence and call witnesses.
