NATIONAL Capital District police are investigating the murder of two men in Erima, Port Moresby on Sunday night, says Assistant Commissioner of Police – NCD/Central command Anthony Wagambie Jr.
ACP Wagambie also called on residents of the city to leave tribal conflicts in their province and not bring their conflicts to a diverse city such as Port Moresby.
“We must leave our tribal conflicts at home.
“We now live in a city with diverse cultures and people.
“I appeal to the relatives of the deceased to remain calm and assist police with investigations.
“There must not be any further retaliation which may lead to disorder in the community affecting other innocent people,” he said.
ACP Wagambie also confirmed that police were investigating the matter, and called on witnesses to come forward with details.
Two men were killed after they were slashed with bush knives at Erima on Sunday night between 7pm and 8pm.
Police say the motive of the killings was yet to be established, however it is believed to be linked back to a tribal fight in their province.
The deceased were identified as Tony Laku, 30, married with one child and Hubert Boras, 30.
Both men were from Piwa village in Tari, Hela.
The men were allegedly attacked by a group of five armed men while they were drinking.

  • Firstly, Why go out drinking, when you know that you have your enemies watching your every move?
Use common sense and your life will be spared.

Secondly, those blood sucking animals must be found and charged lawfully. Come on people, We are in the 21st Century, we should be moving forward instead of going backwards.

Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, Jungle Justice at its best (stone-age mentality resulting in bad judgement) versus our Judiciary system.

May they face the full force of the Law. No stones must be left unturned.

  • If you spill innocent blood, the very blood of your victims will cry to the Creator, then God will always send the Avenger of Blood to get even.

  • Firstly, I want the PM has said in the beginning of the year to repatriate all the TARI’s back to their tribal zone and enough of making rubbish and leave like pigs in the city causing lots of problems in the city.

Secondly, can all the Central MPs and All the Landowners resisted their land and get them back and remove and get rid of all the settlement in the city. In the city are mostly;y HIGHLANDERS polluting the city with their rubbish street sales and sleeping freely under the tress of port Moresby. Upla pig or man..

    • Spysoxz, Highlanders are very, very hard working people. Not all Highlanders sleep under trees in Pom. Without the Highlanders, you and your lot will be years behind. When you are jealous, you are only doing more harm to yourself. Anger and jealousy burns us inside, aging process takes place at a faster rate, then we kick the bucket sooner than later.

  • The government should seriously revisit its vagrancy act. Here we have people using their cave man instincts. We are in the new millennium for crying out loud!
