U-Mi Yet to meet Telikom in volleyball season opener

Sports

MJ Electrical U-Mi Yet women will have another crack at PTPSL Telikom in the opening game of the NCD Volleyball Association season proper at the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
Reigning queens Telikom are still intact for a premiershiop with Bibiana Paloa, Jynar Bernard, Mera Kila, Ruth Miro and Kemmy Manoni at the core of the team.
Telikom proved unbeatable again when they swept through the pre-season undefeated and are looking solid again early in the season.
In the pre-season semifinal, MJ U-Mi Yet pushed Telikom to the tie-breaker and it was Bernard’s skill and ability that got them safely home.
Bernard out-played her opposing setter young Julie Rabura but that gap should be well covered this weekend if experienced setter, Patricia Hani, on a comeback, starts for U-Mi Yet.
Hani will be aided by Wari Pala, Emily Bae, Patricia Hani and Hitolo Raka.
Both teams are equally matched in all departments, therefore, better ball control will determine the outcome of this match.
Eda Tech Scorpions, with Michelle Walo and Isa Hicks leading the onslaught at the net, should prevail over Ela Motors and Vailima’s Nancy Sirae, Lynda Simoi and Bala Livares must step up another gear when they take on a taller Jamas outfit led by Clera Vele and Caroline Gele.
