THE United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) through its PNG Small Grant Programme aims to raise awareness on the protection of conservation areas in the country.
UNDP, in partnership with the Centre for Social and Creative Media from the University of Goroka, has put together an inspiring film featuring four communities spearheading conservation projects in the country.
The film titled In Search for Equilibrium is a documentary that intends to demonstrate challenges that rural communities continue to face in remote communities and to educate the population on the importance of protecting endangered species.
The film tells the story of four conservation areas in the Mamose region which have been able to find the balance between conservation and initiating community livelihood projects which premiered on ‘World Environment Day’ on Wednesday in Port Moresby.
The documentary highlighted that communities were rising up to support and implement different initiatives aimed at protecting natural resources, improving their wellbeing.
