UNDP runs business training for women

WOMEN and young people planning to start their businesses or expand existing ones have been offered training for free.
An entrepreneur accelerator programme was launched on Wednesday in Port Moresby by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) together with the Centre for Arts and Innovation, Tool Box and Credit Union Foundation Australia.
“UNDP is proud to be partnering with micro small-to-medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the country to realise their potential and enable them to drive change and to innovate,” UNDP PNG resident rep Dirk Wagener said.
The programme, to run for six weeks, aims to inspire and engage women.
“We are proud to provide continued support to a growing MSME sector and entrepreneurs, making them resilient towards the external shocks such as supply chain and trade disruptions triggered by the Coronavirus pandemic,” Wagener said.
“Through innovations and skills essential in accelerating and developing their businesses, it would create an enabling environment for them to realise their potential through inclusive technical and vocational training.
“It will also equip women-owned and women-led MSMEs in PNG with the skills and knowledge necessary to take advantage of opportunities, strengthen and refine their business models, ideas, and execution.”
