Undupie deserves PM’s 13 jersey

Letters

IT takes dedication and commitment for a rugby league player to progress in his or her career.
Leon Undupie (pictured in action during the Digicel Cup) has been a standout player in the Digicel Cup and his selection for the PM’s 13 squad is based on merit.
I want to congratulate Undupie for making it into the squad for the match against Australia’s PM’s 13 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
He will be the only Digicel Cup player in the squad for the international match.
The Ialibu native has risen to prominence for his National Rugby League-styled diving tries.
The try-scoring machine is the pride of his family, tribesmen and Mendi Muruks.
The fact that the Muruks lost their recent match to Hela Wigmen was not a desperate moment for Undupie as he was unexpectedly scouted for the PM’s 13 squad.
From watching the Digicel Cup this year, I predict he will be selected into the SP Hunters in 2023.
He has a promising rugby league future.
I’m optimistic that he will make it into the World Cup squad.
The Kumuls No.5 jersey is for Undupie.
I commend coach Stanley Tepend for recognising local boys.
