Unemployed trained for jobs

AN organisation has been teaching unemployed people skills that can help them find work.
The Morobe Empowerment Youth organisation has trained more than 500 young people since 2012, with many finding jobs after.
Executive director and founder Hendry Dinding said three were now teaching in primary schools and two became nurses.
“Three of the youths were assisted by the organisation to enrol at the Balob Teachers’ College and two undertook studies at the Lae Unitech Nursing School. They all graduated last year and are now working,” Dinding said.
He said the organisation had networks in the nine districts of the province.
“After the training, those from the rural districts went back and implemented what they had learnt.”
He said some had ventured into small businesses and even managed to secure bank loans to support their businesses.
