Unfair distribution of services

Letters

I WRITE in support of Nellie Dee regarding the unfair distribution of services in East New Britain (The National, Aug 6).
Nellie, I commend you, as a lady, for standing up and voicing your concerns on behalf of the minority groups who own all the land and resources in the province but yet treated unfairly.
In support of you, these are the points I wish to put out publicly, for decades, this dominant ethnic group has concentrated all developments namely electricity, sealed roads, water supply, educational institutions and so forth where they live and have turned a blind eye on developing areas where the other six minority groups live.
All major projects in the name of ENB are concentrated where this particular ethnic group inhibit how about us?
More than 95 per cent of the land including all the resources belongs to the six minority groups yet they do not benefit from their resources. All their resources goes to benefit just the dominant ethnic group.
These three electorates namely Kokopo, Rabaul and Gazelle when put together in terms of land mass are much smaller compared to Pomio electorate who owns all the land and resources in the province.
This point out dislike, mistreatment and selfishness by the dominant group during pre-independence which still continues today.
The provincial government is dominated by this ethnic group who runs the show for their own good and forget about the others.
We cannot say Rabaul is developed when the entire landmass that makes up the province is underdeveloped while just a small fraction of the province is developed particularly where the ruling ethnic group is.
Come over to Rabaul and have a look at its backyard it is really, really backward as the saying goes – do not judge a book by its cover.
To all minority groups, lets change the status quo.
