University of Goroka (UOG) will continue its zero-tolerance policy for alcohol this year, according to Pro-Vice Chancellor, academic, research and innovations Teng Waninga.
“Please uphold your oath of admission and observe zero alcohol tolerance policy that is strictly maintained by the university council, the top management team and its implementing agency,” he stated in his notice to students.
Waninga said that included a ban on trading and cosuming alcohol in campus.
Waninga said the university would be hosting Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) meetings in October.
“As Papua New Guinea is preparing to host the Apec meetings, UOG is getting ready as well. We must be mindful that some of our academic programmes may be affected due to this international event.
Staff and students are encouraged to take full responsibility in teaching, learning and assessment processes,” he said.
