Uni using its own resources to move forward, VC says

THE management of the PNG University of Natural Resources and Environment has been working tirelessly to find ways to move the institution forward using the minimal resources it has.
This was the main agenda of the university’s academic staff at its main campus at Vudal, East New Britain, who recently attended a week-long workshop.
The workshop was held to discuss ways they could address the recommendations of a 2019 external quality audit.
Vice-chancellor Prof Aisak Pue told The National yesterday that the objectives of the workshop were to identify weaknesses and improve on them, build on existing strengths, improve efficiency and performance collectively and as individuals, enable the university to meet and maintain standards and address the recommendations of the audit.
Prof Pue said the university was committed to going by the recommendations to improve on the past.
“As responsible staff of the credible standing recruited on merit, we are bound to review our current practises and procedures and identify what needs to be done,” he said.
Prof Pue said this was in line with their three-year cycle of reviewing accredited academic programmes against accepted industry standards.
He said he was compelled to lead the like-minded reformists to bring the university to great heights.
“I trust you will join hands with me to improve ourselves and this university reach new heights,” he told the staff.
