HAVING access to clean and safe water is everybody’s right, Alex Rogaveh the Water Sanitation Hygiene (WASH) officer with Unicef says.
“Having access to clean and safe water is everybody’s right but today in this World it is not possible as some 100 million across the Globe have no access to clean and safe water.”
He said some desert countries in the African continent, people walk long distance in search for water.
Rogaveh spoke at the World Water Day celebration at the National Park in Goroka last Friday.
He said people in PNG were lucky to have access to clean and safe water every day, and they should be careful not to pollute the water.
Goroka district’s Gahuku and Minimalo local level government manager Ismael Sapak represented Goroka District Development Authority (DDA) and highlighted the importance of water.
Sapak said without water plants and animals including human beings will not exist, water is very important.
He thanked the organisers of the event and applauded the participation of development partners.
He urged the people to look after water and make sure they are clean and safe for drinking, cooking, washing and use them for many other needs.
