A UNIVERSITY academic has urged students to use their time wisely because it is an important part of learning.
University of Goroka (UOG) pro-vice-chancellor, academic, Dr Ten Waninga told the 584 grade 12 and 10 graduates of Kitip Secondary School in Western Highlands that many students were misusing their time and that had affected their studies.
He urged the students to manage their time well so they could succeed in their learning.
“Students, you have a long way to go and my appeal is to use your time wisely which will help you more,” Waninga said.
“You won’t get anything good from Facebook which will only cause you to waste your time.”
He said the school topped the country last year, with 26 students selected to continue their studies at UOG.
Waninga said the students themselves would decide what they wanted to be in future.
“Time management is the key to any organisation and that also applies to school,” he said.
Waninga said commitment, time management and study were key areas in education.
“You can become somebody in the future if you set your priorities right,” he said.
“I believe in budgeting my time on what I will do in a day.”
