THE University of Natural Resource and Environment (UNRE) in East New Britain is looking to generate internal revenue to support their activities and programmes.
UNRE Vice-Chancellor Dr Ponji Kitchawen said the university’s management had an expansion plan guided by the Higher Education Department but its main focus was Vision 2050.
“Since 1997, Vudal has been an institution with three departments – agriculture, fisheries/marine resources and forestry,” he said.
He added that two schools have been created – business and management; and environment and climate change.
“We are trying to build a little university to compliment Gazelle and provide other general services, not just education, as part of internal revenue generation because we must not rely on Government grants.”
Kitchawen challenged provincial leaders, parents and stakeholders to work with the university.
He said with the school was poised to grow there would be opportunities for local communities in Vudal and Keravat.
