THE star-studded Inter University trounced a depleted Bizprints Angels 8-0 to stake their claim for the minor premiership of the zonal women’s National Soccer League challenge at Lloyd Robson oval in Port Moresby.
Despite a game remaining to complete the season, University are outright leaders with 15 points while Hekari nine, Bizprints six and tailender Maxpro PNGIPA have yet to register a point.
University are likely to meet Barra of Lae, who lost one game in their zonal challenge in Lae to play in the grand final to determine the inaugural WNSL champions.
The side, coached by Robert Popat, wasted no time when striker Deslyn Siniu opened the account in the seventh minute.
Siniu and Tokoi Norrie up front proved dangerous with the support of Jacklyn Chalau who proved to be number one midfielder in the business.
She provided the necessary support for her strikers to score goals at ease.
The former Lae representative set Norrie for the second goal while flying Delilah Waive scored successively in 41st and 45th minute, to put the game out of the reach of Bizprints.
Bizprints could have done better had coaches Martin Michael and Frederica Siwin submitted the full list instead of starting 11 to the match commissioner before the start of the match.
Their negligence backfired, resulting in Bizprints struggling the whole afternoon against University.
Bizprints’ Margaret Aka was visibly disappointed with her coach and she was seen walking off from the bench while Ceslie Dobbin, Talitha Dobbin, Maxine Gerea and Judith Sauto had a difficult time containing the University strikers.
Leading 4-0 at halftime, University had to complete the formalities, easily scoring another four with Siniu and Waive picking up their double while Catherine Horris and Enorah Madona completed the rout.
In the early match, Hekari beat Maxpro PNGIPA 2-1 while in Lae, Wau drew PNG Power 1-1 and Barra defeated Lae Central 2-1.
