THE University of Goroka(UOG) has increased its fees by 10 per cent and expects an enrolment close to 4000 in the new year.
Vice-Chancellor Musawe Sinebare said the increase was made because times were hard.
The university thanked the government for its considerate allocation of K10 million out of the estimated K50 million for buildings in the administration complex (four storeys) on the main campus in Goroka.
“I would like to thank the government for a very generous budget,” Sinebare said.
Over the years the university’s budget from the government had declined gradually while enrolment had increased.
“When there is an increase in numbers, the staff are carrying a very high load, about the same time there is also increased academic programme, increased student numbers but a decrease in budgetary,” he said.
