UOG now in good hands to move forward

THE University of Goroka (UOG) is now graced with an interim administration comprised of two outstanding Papua New Guineans in Prof John Kola and Dr Samuel Kopamu.

Their combined experiences in academia, industry and the public services are impeccable.

The Government showed great confidence in the interim management’s ability to restore normalcy, hence they were handpicked.

They possess the intellectual capacity to adapt to changes and provide dynamical and transparent leadership UOG desperately needs.

It is incumbent on all deans of schools to provide undivided support to the interim management.

The very people (deans) who should advise the interim management to ensure UOG returns to normalcy are hell bent on derailing the whole process.

They pushed for a referendum and management in its wisdom sanctioned one after seeking approval from Council and Secretary DHERST.

The conducts of the deans of the schools of humanities and education are an absolute embarrassment to the UOG community.

One of them stooped so low to the point of engaging in character assassination. His conduct borders on stupidity at its best and is really intellectually insulting.

These deans made their way up from community/high school background and have been at UOG for ages but appear to be very immature and extremely emotional. One of them sends emails in absolutely poor written English that you can be forgiven for thinking a primary school student authored such emails.

It is now clear that these renegade deans have been quietly crossing their fingers to assume the VC’s office in the interim.

We hear they even knocked on the corridors of Waigani seeking NEC favor but failed miserably and now are so adamant on vengeance for loss of self-esteem and pride.

These are signs of desperate people and I urge the investigating team to get to the bottom of all allegations and to also consider the first draft of the 2010 report.
