THE ring roads and streets in Wabag town will be sealed under phase three of a K4 million project in Enga province.
Local company Kaystar Construction was awarded the project from among six bidders.
Local MP and Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Abal said the contract was awarded on merit because under phase two of sealing Wabag town, which  cost of K1.7 million, Kaystar Construction was also awarded the contract.
He said that looking at the  quality of work done in Wabag town  by Kaystar  under phase 2, they could not look further than to engage the same company.
“This company also has a good reputation of carrying out quality work on Kandep road,” Mr Abal said.
“We want quality work that would last a long time and not like the Wapenamanda to Wabag road where the tar came off after six months.
“We cannot continue to spend money on road repairs and, therefore, quality work is  important.
“Some sections of the road in the district are falling apart because of inferior  work,” he added.
Mr Abal said the K4 million was coming from the K20 million supplementary grant allocated by the Government last March after the National Executive Council meeting in Wabag.
Kaystar Construction managing director Paul Kurai assured the minister and the people of  Wabag that work would be done efficiently and on time.
Mr Kurai said the tender board awarded Kaystar the contract because they had proven themselves.
“As a local man living in Wabag town, I will ensure phase three of the sealing lasts longer,” he said.
