UPNG issue

Letters

I HAVE two important points to be elaborated.
Firstly, it is now noticed that UPNG, the premier university of South Pacific has its status being depleted because of its outdated resources.
As one can see today, text books of 10 years ago are still there. Resource books and learners guides have not been changed little bit.
The premier university learning resources are outdated relegating the university status from premier university in South Pacific to sub-standard.
Where is the quality to accord with the name as premier university in South Pacific?
Moreover, there are insufficient computers in the labs to cater for increased number of intakes per year.
The university management must seriously look into this and address the issue.
The next issue is, one wonders how and why there are many Indian lecturers from IBS lecturing at UPNG.
Are there any connections with head of faculty?
They claim to have professor name, PhD name beside their names but hardly see any of their publications of highest standard.
Every year there seem to be Indian lecturer recruited and we wonder whether the position has been advertised for them to apply.
DHERST, please investigate and get back to us as concern tax payers for transparency sake.
